Meet One of Our Recruiters: Interview with Harmony Healthcare’s Drew Collins

Where is the best place you’ve traveled and why?

My wife and I went honeymooning in Thailand, and it was an incredible experience. Thailand has it all – culture, beauty, history, and food!

Tell us about one lesson you’ve learned in the past month.

It’s important to have a balance between preparing for the future and knowing tomorrow isn’t guaranteed. You can’t spend too much time planning out your life and forget to enjoy it.

I like being in control and knowing what to expect, so I must remind myself to let go and ride the wave!

What does true leadership mean to you?

True leaders inspire others to be the best version of themselves. They lift others up and never ask others to do anything they wouldn’t do themselves.

What do you see for the future of the healthcare industry in the coming year?

Healthcare is always changing, but one thing that will remain a constant is the need for highly specialized consultants. It’s tough to know exactly how to prepare for the turbulent future in the industry, but consultants can give peace of mind to hospital leaders amid the unknown.

What’s the most helpful way for you to receive feedback?

When I receive feedback, I see it as a chance to learn. Even if the message is delivered poorly, usually feedback is coming from someone who wants to help. I stop growing if I stop listening to other opinions and points of view.

Describe what helps you thrive in the workplace.

It’s important to have balance. I have a demanding position here at Harmony, but my colleagues make it a great work environment. We all can have fun and joke while still working hard and being there for our clients/consultants.

What is the most important part of your morning routine to help you kick start the day?

I have a 45-minute commute, so I often like to practice meditation and think about all I’ve been blessed with in my life. It gets me ready to take on anything the office throws at me.

Tell us about your very first concert experience.

I don’t remember my first concert, but I can give you my favorite: Brian McKnight. I’d grown up with his music and finally got to see him in person a few years ago!
