Employee Spotlight: Angela Jones

Angela Jones

Meet Angela Jones, Harmony Healthcare Accounting Assistant

Tell us how you like to start your day.

I don’t really have much of a morning routine. I wake up usually last minute. If you know me, you know I love sleeping. I take naps all the time and sleep in. But on weekdays, I wake up for my classes, and once class is over, I usually get ready for work.

I would say something that I have to do every day when driving to work is play music in my car. I turn the volume all the way up and just sing the whole way to work. This really makes me happy and sets the mood for my day.

Tell us about a moment you made a leap of faith.

The biggest leap I took was a few years back when I went to Costa Rica on a study abroad trip. I went to one meeting and fell in love with the idea of traveling, and the next day I told my mom I wanted to do the trip.

I lived with strangers in Costa Rica for a month, but the experience was truly amazing. I felt so independent and this experience really helped me grow. I loved seeing what each day would bring me and what new experience I would get to do. I went ziplining, milked a cow, went to an opera, and went white water rafting. I also tried new food and explored the night life with friends. It was such an amazing trip, and I hope I can take another trip like that soon.

I graduate from college with my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in aging sciences this spring semester, and I hope to take a summer trip to Hawaii with my best friend to celebrate our achievement.

What’s a fun fact about your childhood?

I am the youngest of my family, but I have always felt much older than I am. My older brother has cerebral palsy, so he can’t walk or talk. Ever since I was a little kid, I have always taken care of him. He is my best friend; he has gone through so much in his lifetime, and I feel so grateful to have him as my brother.

He loves going to see water and Disney and listening to music. A year ago, we took him to his first concert at 98 Rock fest, and he had the time of his life. He danced all night and screamed to every song. I am so grateful to have memories like that with my brother.

If you could only sing one song for karaoke for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

Hmmm. I love doing karaoke with friends. When I was a little girl, I used to love singing Queen songs with my friend Brooke. We would do at least 5 songs by Queen in one night.

Nowadays, I’d probably just do one Queen song and it would be “Somebody to Love.” In high school, my choir preformed it, and I was able to sing a solo, which was such an amazing experience.

Tell us your idea of a perfect weekend.

I love going to the beach with friends. We always plan on leaving early so we can get a good spot, but we always end up sleeping in. We eventually get on the road by 1pm, and once we get there, all our problems just disappear.

I feel like I reset any time I go to the beach. And then afterwards we usually go out to eat somewhere near the beach.

Create a soundtrack to your life with just 5 songs.

What is your favorite movie quote and why?

“If you do your best each and every day, good things are sure to come your way.”

– The Princess and the Frog

This just makes sense to me. It’s exactly how I think. And hearing that others think this way too makes me feel like I am doing something right. I just really want to be a good person and help others.

What’s your favorite catchphrase?

“I can fix it.” I say this all the time to my best friend and boyfriend. They probably hate me for the amount of times I say this in a day. I say it even when I have no idea how to, but I always try.
