Employee Spotlight with Austin Gantz

Meet One of Our Client Services Managers: Interview with Harmony Healthcare’s Austin Gantz

What do you do at Harmony? What does a typical day look like for you?

I’ve been on the Client Services team for a little over a year now and was an Account Executive for three years before that. I work with clients, account executives, and our recruitment team to manage some of our larger projects as well as manage my own projects. I’m also constantly checking with my current and past clients to ensure that we are supporting them in the best way that we can. The best part of my job is that I have no idea what’s going to happen when I walk in the door each morning.

What did you want to be growing up?

I played baseball my entire life and dreamed of having a Major League career ever since Little League. Once I got accepted into the University of Florida, I knew that was the best path for me moving forward so I ended up hanging up my cleats after high school, but I do still enjoy playing slow pitch softball in our Thursday night league.

During your childhood, what were your best / worst subjects in school?

I’ve always been the best at Math and definitely the worst at English / Writing classes. I never enjoyed writing essays or working on the group projects in those classes but enjoyed Algebra and Calculus classes. As a Sport Management major, I didn’t have to write many long papers, but occasionally, I’d have to take a Literature class and those were always a struggle.

Who is your favorite character of all time? Why?

Michael Scott from The Office. I’ve seen every episode multiple times. My wife hates it, but I still can’t help myself every time I see it while scrolling through the channels. I’ve always enjoyed how he is able to lighten the mood in any situation, usually inappropriately and unintentionally. He is a perfect example that nothing is ever as good or as bad as it seems in the moment.

Of all the cities and / or countries you’ve been to, which is your favorite? Why?

My wife and I went to Costa Rica on our honeymoon and it was by far the coolest place that I have had a chance to explore. We split up our time between two different parts of the country while we were there. The first part of the week we stayed in the rainforest around the Arenal Volcano. We were able to hike through the rain forest, go zip lining, and swim in the hot springs on the side of the volcano. For the last half of the week we took a bus to the Playa Conchal beach where we went paddle boarding in the Pacific Ocean and stayed at a resort right on the coast. We got to visit local towns at night to experience their lifestyle and try different types of food.

What would you name your boat if you had one?

It would definitely be named after my dog, Annie. I’m a member of the Freedom Boat Club here in Tampa, so we try take a boat out on the Gulf a couple times a month and Annie comes with us every time. She is a boxer and has a ton of energy, so her favorite part is when we pull up to an island and she is able to run around for a few hours on the beach.
