Harmony Healthcare provides healthcare organizations with the talent and resources needed to succeed today as well as the foresight to prepare for tomorrow’s challenges. In this employee spotlight, we’re excited to highlight Sandra Andrade, Director, Coding Solutions.
We spoke with Sandra to share her advice for clients and coding professionals as well as insights from her career journey.
1. Can you tell us about your journey in healthcare?
From a young age, I knew I wanted to be part of the healthcare field. My journey started in a pre-nursing program right out of high school, but I soon discovered my passion lay in the behind-the-scenes work that keeps healthcare running. Shifting my focus to Health Information allowed me to pursue a meaningful career in healthcare without direct patient care, while still contributing to quality, compliance, and patient outcomes.
2. What are you most proud of about your journey with Harmony Healthcare?
One of the most rewarding aspects of my time with Harmony Healthcare has been the meaningful relationships I’ve built with both my colleagues and clients. These connections have not only enriched my experience at Harmony Healthcare but have also contributed to stronger collaboration and better outcomes for the teams and organizations we support.
3. What is the biggest takeaway you’ve gained from your career thus far?
The biggest takeaway from my career so far is the value of adaptability and continuous learning. The healthcare landscape is always evolving, and staying open to change—whether in technology, policy, or process—has been key to driving meaningful impact and long-term success.
4. What are the top Coding trends that you think people in the industry need to be prepared for?
Some of the top coding trends to watch include the increasing role of AI-assisted coding, the integration of coding with clinical documentation improvement (CDI), and the tightening of payer scrutiny through audits and denial management. Coders need to be prepared to interpret nuanced clinical scenarios, adapt to evolving technologies, and continuously sharpen their regulatory knowledge, such as risk-adjusted models.
5. What advice would you give professionals in the Coding industry?
Stay curious and committed to learning. Coding is no longer just about assigning codes—it’s about understanding the clinical story, regulations, and revenue impact. Invest in ongoing education, ask questions, stay updated with coding guidelines, and don’t be afraid to seek mentorship or step into leadership roles. Your attention to detail and willingness to evolve will set you apart.
6. Tell us a little about Sandra outside of your professional life. How do you spend your time outside of work?
I spend a lot of time outdoors enjoying quality moments with family and friends. Whether it’s relaxing at local parks or exploring new hiking trails, being in nature helps me recharge and stay grounded.
7. What’s a fun fact about Sandra that most people don’t know?
Each year, I set a goal to summit a mountain or explore an interesting destination. One of my favorite adventures is when I explored a remote fire tower in the Pacific Northwest. It’s a tradition that keeps me active, connected to nature, and surrounded by people who inspire and motivate me.
8. Anything else you’d like to say, advice to give, etc?
Stay open to growth and embrace every opportunity to learn—whether it’s through challenges, mentorship, or new experiences. In healthcare, adaptability, collaboration, and continuous learning are key.
Also, never underestimate the power of networking. Connecting with others in the field can open doors, spark ideas, and strengthen your impact. Surround yourself with people who inspire you and remember—the work we do behind the scenes truly makes a difference.
