Meet One of Our Recruiters: Interview with Harmony Healthcare’s Jose Rosario

1. Share 3 random facts about yourself.

  • I have a furry son named Winston, after Winston Bishop from New Girl.
  • I am a HUGE Bob Ross fan!
  • I choreographed the “Single Ladies” video for Beyoncé. 😉

2. What does true leadership mean to you?

A true leader is someone who empowers those around them, someone who takes the time to understand their team’s strengths and develop a plan to play off those strengths. True leadership involves more than just delegating. It also involves someone who can earn the respect of their team through shared experiences, positive reinforcement, and their understanding of difference perspectives.

3. Describe what helps you thrive in the workplace.

Positivity! There is no better feeling to me than to walk up to one of my teammates in the morning and help put a smile on their beautiful faces.

We work in an environment that can get stressful and be mentally exhausting. I always remind myself to be positive about any situation I encounter, remembering that each day will come to an end and bring you a whole new opportunity to make a difference!

A very dear friend of mine shared a quote that I look at every day when I sit at my desk: “This is the beginning of a new day. You have been given this day to use as you will. You can waste it or use it for good. What you do today is important because you are exchanging a day of your life for it. When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever. In its place is something that you have left behind. Let it be something good”.

4. What are 2 of your pet peeves and why?

One of my biggest pet peeves are negative people. I am a very positive person and try to only contribute good energy to the world, so when a teammate or someone around me is being negative about a situation, I much rather lock them in a closet for a bit.

Another pet peeve of mind would have to be people who do not like pineapple on their pizza! Enough said!

5. What’s on your wish list for the next 5 years?

Aside from the new 2020 Ford Bronco and jet skis, I want to travel more! I have been to many places within the United States, and my sights are now set to anywhere that requires me to learn a new language.

6. Tell us about who and what inspire you.

My parents are who inspire me the most and are who I strive to be like every day. Growing up, my parents always did their best to provide my sister and me with the best life possible. They kept us in sports and stayed involved with our academics all while maintaining full time jobs. They always had a smile and positive attitude and were optimistic no matter what life threw at them. Now that I am older and have many of the same responsibilities they had, I understand that it was not as easy as they made it seem.

7. Ten years ago, who did you think you’d be today?

Back then, I was a sophomore at USF, and at that time, was studying Criminology to become a United States Marshal. Fast forward 10 years and now I am Harmony Healthcare’s self-proclaimed best recruiter! Who would have thought?

8. Give your teenage self your best advice in 150 words or less.

Let it go and find the positives in any situation. Life is too short to let any emotion other than happiness or joy consume your time! You were put on this Earth to make someone smile, so go do it!
